Kingsdown is at a crossroads. Our village shop and post office – the last of their kind in the village – are closing. For a community in a National Landscape with limited public transport, these aren’t conveniences. They’re essentials. For residents without cars, for older people, for families, and for the visitors and holidaymakers who make Kingsdown their home away from home, losing these services would be a serious blow.
And this wouldn’t be the first loss. Over the years, Kingsdown has already seen its supermarket, grocery shops, garage, pub, restaurant, and more disappear. We can’t afford to let this happen again.
Following the Village Hall meeting 18/02/2026, a steering group has been formed.
Aim – to take Del’s shop into community ownership by raising £500K + from a mix of sources.
Currently raising seed capital to finance website design, legal and registration fees, questionnaire etc.
More help welcomed with experience in retail, charitable & accountancy.
But things are already happening… get involved!
